Tenzing Managed IT Services, a leading provider of hosting solutions for Software as a Service (SaaS) companies and Ecommerce systems integrators, today announced it has successfully completed the Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) Type II, Service Organizations. Tenzing is now the only Canadian managed services provider to combine SAS 70 Type II, ISO 27001 and PCI information security certifications, enabling it to provide best-of-breed security and compliance controls to its clients.

SAS Type II audits are important in today’s environment of increased business process outsourcing and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Completion of the SAS 70 Type II designation acknowledges that Tenzing’s processes and controls have been evaluated and tested by an independent service auditor: PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The audit – which was carried out from April 1, 2009 to September 30, 2009 – examined Tenzing’s internal processes and controls over its Toronto and Vancouver data centres. The control categories included: organization and security; asset management; human resources; physical security and environmental controls; operations management; access control; change management; and information security.

Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the SAS 70 Type II is a widely recognized auditing standard, and reinforces that a service organization has been through an in-depth audit of their control objectives and control activities, which often includes controls over information technology and related processes.
