Howard Lis, P. Eng., joined GMP Capital as one of ten original partners upon the firm's inception in 1995 and his efforts were integral in building a leading presence for the firm in research and investment banking activities related to technology companies. For 13 years, he was an integral partner in building GMP into Canada's pre-eminent independent full service investment bank. He leveraged an extensive industry background in his analysis of the Canadian high technology sector. Howard has been rated as one of Canada's top-ranked software analysts by institutional investors. TSX-listed GMP Capital, through its subsidiary GMP Securities, is a leading Canadian investment dealer focused on serving corporate clients and institutional investors. It engages in investment banking, sales and trading, research and Private Client services.
Howard decided to move on from GMP in mid-2008 and since then has been active in advising and consulting to private and public companies on operational, strategic, financial and consolidation matters through Lis Capital Corporation. Prior to GMP, Howard served in a variety of roles in the technology industry, including director of business development and division general manager at Delrina Corp., and as an engineer with Nortel. In addition, he draws on five years of experience at McKinsey & Company, a leading strategic management consulting firm.
Howard is a driven, results- and people-oriented entrepreneurial leader with extensive experience in the financial services industry, the technology industry and strategic management. Howard holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
